Respite Care

Yalukang Respite Accommodation

Respite Care is an alternative care arrangement with to give a carer or care-recipient a short-term break from their usual care arrangement.

REDHS offers one bed to the community for short-term respite accommodation.

People who have been assessed as eligible by an Aged Care Assessment are welcome to book. The following documents must be completed and lodged with us:

  • Application for Respite Care
  • Current ACAS assessment for Respite Care

People who are assessed as suitable for respite are allocated up to 63 days per financial year (1 July – 30 June). This includes respite at other facilities.

Fees and Charges

Fees are set by the Australian Government and can be accessed at the Department of Social Services. DVA clients are encouraged to contact the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to assess eligibility for four weeks’ paid respite annually.

Suitability for placement is determined through assessment by the Aged Care Assessment Service of current care needs (i.e. Respite Care). Prospective residents and / or their families can have referrals for assessment organised by discussing this mater with the REDHS Aged Care Administration team, their GP, a District Nurse or any Allied Health Service Provider, and, self referral.
