COMMUNITY NOTICE – WHOOPING COUGH (PERTUSSIS) PRECAUTIONS (4 April 2025)

Rochester and Elmore District Health Service (REDHS) is taking extra steps to protect our community, patients, residents, and staff during a rise in whooping cough (pertussis) cases in our community.

As advised by the Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit, anyone with respiratory symptoms such as a cough, runny nose or temperature or concerned about their health, should contact or proceed to your GP as soon as possible.

If anyone you care for is experiencing severe respiratory symptoms, please immediately call 000.

When attending the REDHS Urgent Care Centre (UCC):

✅ Call the number posted on the entrance door upon arrival.

✅ Please wait outside until a staff member directs you inside.

😷 A mask must be worn upon entry.

These infection prevention measures are in place on the advice of the Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit to help stop the spread of respiratory illness and keep everyone safe.
