Health Promotion

Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over and to improve their health.

 
REDHS facilitate and coordinate a range of health promotion activities, such as:

  • Exercise sessions
  • Assist with the development of Community Kitchens within the district
  • Promotion of positive body image among young people
  • Promotion of health, nutrition and physical activity within the primary and secondary school years.
  • Promotion of healthy lifestyles at:
    • Community events such as the Elmore Field Days and the Farm and Road Safety Expo
    • Health Awareness Weeks such as Australia’s Healthy Weight Week, Heart Week and National Diabetes Week.  

 

Other programs facilitated at REDHS:
  • Better Health Self-Management – The program has been designed to assist people to better manage their chronic health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, heart failure and chronic lung conditions.
