Accreditation Success

In August 2009, the Rochester Nursing Home and Rochester & District Hostel underwent an assessment by the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency (ACSAA) and was found compliant in all 44 outcomes.
The two assessors reviewed documentation, spoke with staff, residents and families and observed the day to day activities of both facilities. They were very complimentary of the care provided to our residents. Both facilities have again achieved the maximum three years accreditation until October 2012.

On October 28th and 29th, two surveyors from the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS) conducted a Periodic Review of the Acute and Administration departments.
They spoke with staff and management at length regarding care planning and reassessment, health records, infection control, credentialing of staff, emergency management, occupational health & safety, policies and procedures, continuous improvement and feedback processes. One surveyor also spoke with patients.
They also reviewed progress on the thirteen recommendations that were handed down at the 2007 survey and considered that all had been addressed satisfactorily and closed them out. Both surveyors noted that staff had been very open and honest and willing to share information. REDHS is fully accredited with ACHS until January 2012.

On October 30th, one surveyor conducted a review of our District Nursing Service (DNS) that is jointly funded  by the Australian and Victorian governments under the Home and Community Care (HACC) program. This survey measured the performance of DNS against a different set of requirements to most of our other services. DNS has significantly improved its performance against these standards in the past three years, achieving an outstanding result in the High Standard (top) category.

REDHS continues to work on improving services across all departments  to provide quality services for the community.
